Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

RenoWise (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a mobile renovation planning application that provides cost estimation, energy performance certificate (EPC) analysis, and grant eligibility information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the RenoWise mobile app and website.

By using RenoWise, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. You may also sign in using Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In, in which case we receive your name and email from the respective provider. You may use RenoWise in guest mode without creating an account.

Property & Renovation Data

To provide cost estimates and energy analysis, we collect the property details you enter through our intake wizard. This includes building type, size, number of facades, window and roof characteristics, heating systems, and other physical attributes (approximately 40 fields). This data is associated with your account and stored alongside your renovation scenarios, cost estimates, EPC results, and grant eligibility results.

Usage Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as screen views, feature usage events, and error reports. We also record user properties like language preference and user type (guest or registered). No personally identifiable information is linked to analytics data.

Advertising Data

RenoWise uses Google AdMob to display advertisements (banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads). AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data in accordance with Google’s privacy policy.

Device & Local Data

We store app settings (theme, region, currency), scenario caches, and saved inspiration photos locally on your device using SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide renovation cost estimates and energy performance analysis
• Determine grant and subsidy eligibility for your region
• Sync your scenarios and estimates across devices when signed in
• Improve the app through anonymous analytics
• Display relevant advertisements
• Communicate important updates about the service

4. Data Storage & Security

Account data, properties, scenarios, and estimates are stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database. All data is protected by Row Level Security (RLS), meaning each user can only access their own data. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.

Local data (app settings, scenario caches, saved photos) is stored on your device via SharedPreferences and is not transmitted to our servers.

5. Third-Party Services

RenoWise integrates with the following third-party services:

• Supabase — Authentication and database hosting. See Supabase Privacy Policy.
• Firebase Analytics — Anonymous usage analytics. See Firebase Privacy.
• Google AdMob — Advertising. See Google Privacy Policy.
• VEKA Energie API — Anonymous building data is sent to the Flemish government’s energy API for EPC calculations. No personally identifiable information is transmitted.
• Pinterest — Search queries are sent to retrieve renovation inspiration photos. No personally identifiable information is transmitted.
• Apple Sign-In & Google Sign-In — Authentication providers. Subject to Apple and Google privacy policies respectively.

6. Guest Mode

You may use RenoWise without creating an account. In guest mode, all property data, scenarios, and estimates are stored locally on your device only. No personal data is sent to our servers. If you later create an account, locally stored data is not automatically migrated.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from within the app. When you delete your account, all associated data — including your profile, properties, scenarios, estimates, and settings — is permanently deleted from our servers. This action is irreversible.

Local data stored on your device can be cleared by uninstalling the app or clearing the app’s data in your device settings.

8. Children’s Privacy

RenoWise is not directed at individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 16, we will promptly delete it.

9. Your Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:

• Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Deletion — Request deletion of your personal data (also available via in-app account deletion).
• Portability — Request your data in a structured, commonly used format.
• Objection — Object to the processing of your data in certain circumstances.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the app. Your continued use of RenoWise after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
